Swerving from the well-trodden path of the norm, emeson creates a sound that is uniquely electronic soulphonica, offering an alternative, with a completely different style of delivery. 01. Where are you from? How did you get your artist-/band-/project- name? Born in Manchester, schooled in Nottingham & Nigeria, living in London. The name Emeson stems from Emeka the name I share with my father and ‘son’ from ‘son of’. 02. How did you get involved into music? I was DJ’ing for a number of years and made the crossover to creating music with fellow members of the group Lifesize. Everyone’s working on their own projects now and I wouldn’t imagine a reunion. I still DJ now and again when the opportunity allows. 03. What are your influences (e.g. bands, styles, circumstances)? Your personal way of music? There are too many to mention, but here are a few – Steely Dan, Kleeer, Bobby Caldwell, Kraftwerk, Gary Numan, Barry White & Willie Hutch. 04. How would you describe your music? In this world of branding and labelling, I would call it Electronica, Soul and Alternative. In my world, I just call it music. 05. Which is your best way to write songs/music? How can you work most efficiently? I tend to start with the music and build from there. Sometimes I might be playing around with a hook or a phrase – set it to music and a theme and go from there. No real rules as certain songs define their own parameters. 06. How long does it take you to create a song? – e.g. writing an recording? It depends. Some songs have been completed in a couple of days due to the energy, content matter and some songs I have been able to complete at all. 07. Are you also working together with other musicians as guest players or in collaboration? I’ve been blessed to work with, alongside or on the projects(remixes) of some real innovators, Dj Don Cuco, Karma Sound, Cain, Mariu, Yamasaki, Peter Gabriel, Mark de Clive-Lowe, etc. 08. Which is your favorite location to play and where will you play next? I like Offbeat in London for the crowd proximity, but playing in front of 40,000 in Trafalgar Sq, London is right up there. 09. Do you have a video to your music? Yes, there are a couple of videos online on YouTube. 10. Do you have other profiles next to the one on BeSonic? Yes, you can tap "emeson" into Google search and find other profiles about me. 11. Plans for the future?
