Home Rhigo Selbstdarstellung, Story
Rhigo was born on January 8th 1975 in Guanabanacoa, a city of Havana, Cuba. Since he as a child, he felt affection for Music and singing, despite the fact that there weren’t any musicians in his family. He was singing the songs of successful artists, whom he heard on the radio, and was enjoying more than anything else, learning these songs. At the age of 8, Rhigo had his first guitar, after tormenting his mother until he couldn’t ask her anymore to buy him one, everytime she passed by the music store. As soon as he had it, he started to play and learned to play it in the first month. Immediately he entered a children’s group, handled by the department of culture. The group was playing traditional Cuban music, rapidly he turned into a soloist, thanks to his talent and charisma, presenting himself individually in multiple scenarios. He remained in the group and shared stages with artists like Pablo Milanes, Silvio Rodrigues, an Irakere, until his parents emigrated to Venezuela. Upon his arrival he continued his Baccalaureat studies and began singing classes, which he considerd to be his Gymnasium. He graduated from High School and began to study education in University, where he left as Sumacunlaude, due to his high academic placing. Parties and informal presentations led him to obtain his first contract in a night club, where he began his development and approach to the current sound. Success did not make him wait and he started getting bigger gigs and rubbing ellbows with successful international artists. His hopes weakened in Venezuela when the national record labels declined him, and started making what is called disposable music, pushing opportunities back where his style was compromised, or he would not have creative freedom. By chance, he began to produce jingles and achieved an overwhelming success, changing the advertisment patterns of local radio stations. At present he has a small company dedicated to this type of production called playsong publicity. But Rhigo has a priority: his music. That’s why he was working at completing his first original album by the beginning of 2002, to spread his music and to get in touch with an important record label and to realize hi most ambitious projects. He also wants to compose and produce for other artists, but over all other things, he wants to do what he was born to do..sing. After having done a mock-up of 4 songs in the previous year, Rhigo concentrated all his energies on this album, which would mean a change and an evolution (name of the CD) in his music and life, this compound, arranged album produced an directed by Rhigo is placed in the most important music portals on the net, allowing him an absolute control over his career. Thanks to the support of thousand of fans Rhigo turned into the most latin artist on the net, in no time. And by the middle of 2003 his songs were occupying the top of the charts of different musical genres all over the world. Rhigo continues working and faces 2004 with a great challenge. To finish a more personal and agressive CD then “Evolution”, where his style is furthermore defined and consolidated. Rhigo embarks on “Libertad’s Syndrome”, another Pop/Rock album with fusions, grand lyrics, arrangements, and a lot of interpretive force, one Rhigo’s strngths, “the voice”, like his friends and followers call him, deliver soul and heart into this album. Meanwhile he continues to wait for his moment, because if he has accomplished all this by his own effort, what will happen when he has the support of a company, that appreciates and values it? Only time will tell, for the time being, they should allow his music and lyrics to feed our souls and hearts with his unmistakable seal.
