| Take 2 began when ex-NYC piano player Paul Glantzman posted an ad on Craig's List seeking a female jazz/blues vocalist in New York's Southern Tier Region. When singer Kristin Wheeler saw the posting she replied. Paul and Kristin arranged to get together in order to test out their musical chemistry and hopefully discuss the performance possibilities of their collaboration. Despite their almost 30 year difference in age, they quickly discovered that they had a similar musical goal: They both wanted to create unique musical arrangements of music from all generations and perform music in all styles. Based on this common musical goal, they decided to form the Take 2 Duo. Paul and Kristin made plans to self-produce a short demo CD in order to present the wide variety of music they would be able to perform. However, caught up in their mutual excitement of the whole project, they ended up recording a full-length eight song demo which included songs ranging from the 1940's Fred Astaire film song standard "Cheek to Cheek" to Vanessa Carlton's contemporary hit, "Thousand Miles". It also included "No Me Queda Mas," a song by Selena sung by Kristin in Spanish, and "Relax Max," a little-known catchy simple tune originally performed by Dinah Washington which only became popular when it was featured in the recent Double Tree Hotel advertising campaign.
