Str8jakkett aka Mr. Mood Swings began performing as a teenager in local Kasas City venues. He formed a rap group called DVS Mindz. The group members barnstormed the region with an unforgettable sound and image that reflected the group's mean-street origins. DVS Mindz's seminal debut album, Million Dolla Broke Niggaz, was hailed as a Midwest hip hop classic. It was released under 11 third records, a indie label founded by Randy Smith and Str8jakkett. Str8jakkett's influence is heard all over the album -- from the first notes of the introduction, a headspinning freestyle to the title track "Me, Myself, and I Prevail" a solo track that found Str8jakkett battling the three sides of his schizophrenic personality: Stu, the affable everyman; Special Agent Wrexxx, a dangerous psychopath; and Str8jakkett, the rap phenomenon with the unbeatable flow. After working his way up from house-parties, sugar shacks, strip clubs. and other tawdry venues, Str8jakkett has earned a reputation in the midwest as the region's fiercest live performer,increasing his fanbase by the thousands.
