Artist review
Rob B feat Andrew Gold

Dive on this retro west coast wave and be swept away by the fantastic voice and musicianship behind this song. I definitely got what I wanted..

The voice behind “Did You Get What You Want” is the multi-instrumentalist/producer/singer and 70s alt pop star Andrew Gold (Lonely Boy, Thank You For Being A Friend), former WAX member (Right Between The Eyes, Bridge To Your Heart), whose past musical output can further be associated to artists like Celine Dion , James Taylor, Ringo Starr, Brian Wilson, Jackson Browne, Stephen Bishop, Vince Gill, Aaron Neville, Don Henley, Diana Ross, Cher, Paul McCartney and more.

Renowned for his warm vocal style and west coast sound à la Tom Petty, Steely Dan or the Eagles, Californian born Andrew Gold lend his voice and fine production skills to finalize “Did You Get What You Want”, which was written by the German songwriter Robert Baitinger.

The song is the first collaboration of the two, stemming from Robert’s spontaneous e-mail to Andrew with an attached demo version of the song. Andrew liked it so much, that he got in touch and ended up producing the whole track. He played all instruments, recorded the lead vocals, and invitied Robert to do backing vocals. That was in 2004. Now here it is..

“Did You Get What You Want” perfectly blends, what became famous as the timeless Southern Californian sound of bands like the Eagles. Catchy melodies on vers and refrain, carried by Gold’s warm, charming vocals, underlined by strong yet laid back pop rock lead and rhythm guitars, low-key bass, easy-flowing beats and rattling tambourine round up this fab production.

“Did You Get What You Want”
may be the only song on the BeSonic Homepage of Robert B. feat. Andrew Gold, but its underlying signature is unmistakable. This tune is a wellness spa for all fans of the good old 70s west coast sound!
